Good afternoon friends,
I am excited to introduce myself to you as the new United Methodist chaplain here at AU. My name is Rev. Joey Heath (feel free to call me Joey).
A little about me. I was raised in southern Georgia and attended college at Valdosta State University, majoring in political science. After changing a previous plan to attend law school, I spent several years working a variety of jobs from camp counselor to working on cruise ships, which exposed me to a whole world of experiences that shaped who I am today. In 2008 I felt God leading me to be a part of being change in the church as a pastor. In response I enrolled at Wesley Theological Seminary and began a Master of Divinity degree. In 2012 I graduated and began his first appointment at Stone Chapel UMC in New Windsor, MD. This was followed by three years at Silver Spring UMC. My is passion is to see life changing transformation in the world and being the church where all are welcomed and embraced for exactly who God has created each one to be.
I am here at Kay now full-time and looking forward to the coming semester when y’all return and we can get to know one another more. In the mean time feel to reach out if you would like. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org!
